| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Hitachi has been recognized as a world leader in the business front projector market, and now brings years of optical engineering and refinement to home theater. The advanced HDPJ52 is a perfect example of the total integration of Hitachi original technologies. The Hi-2 Dual Iris System is the combination of two independently controlled Iris components that adjust image brightness to show full shadow and highlight detail and enhance contrast for varied ambient light environments and source material. By optimizing the brightness of the projector to the ambient light conditions in the room, the viewer enjoys a more life-like picture with significantly improved shadow and highlight detail. Combined with the Super Focus Quattro ELD Lens System, the HDPJ52 brings out every detail and vivid color for a truer, life-like image. The Lamp Iris is automatically controlled by proprietary Hitachi processing circuitry. Independent of any motorized Lens Iris settings, the Lamp Iris is a "butterfly" valve, which opens and closes by degrees, directly in front of the lamp. This automatic feature dynamically controls the amount of light sent through the light engine to the LCD panels. Digitally mapping incoming frames to determine the correct position of the Lamp Iris allows for an impressive 7000:1 contrast ratio.

| Customer Reviews:
Great 720p home theater projector November 29, 2008 I have owned this projector for about two years now and have had nothing but excellent performance out of it. The unit was made for home theater use from it's quiet operation right down to the fantastic looking black glossy case. For its price range, it is one of the best 720p projectors out there. The LCD panels were part of a new generation that virtually eliminates the screen door effect at close and normal viewing distances. The zoom lens and vertical shift allow this projector to be installed in so many other locations. No longer does it have to be set up perpendicular to the screen allowing you more flexibility with its placement in your room.
The projector has a very well designed cooling system and runs extremely quiet. It also outputs plenty of brightness. So much so that i have both the projector's brightness setting as well as its adjustable iris (A second brightness control that actually closes to reduce the amount of light let through to the lens) to almost their lowest settings. If you are in a well lit room, open the iris up to a higher setting and you will still get excellent results.
The menu's are well laid out and calibration can be as simple (with the easy menu) or as specific (with the advanced menu) as you want it to be. Hitachi really did a good job of making this an extremely user friendly projector. Newcomer's and home theater experts will both enjoy this projector because of its array of features as well as its simplicity of use. Its clarity in HD picture is fantastic and it really does well with its depth of color. I am also very impressed with its ability to display fast action without blur. All in all, it is absolutely one of the best 720p projectors made. I highly recommend it.
